VIKING MOTEL-DETROIT, Detroit – Your ideal downtown stay

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel's great location with easy access to where I wanted to go. The rooms were nicer than expected, but there were some bugs at the entrance. The service was very friendly and helpful, making my stay enjoyable. However, the door knob was loose. Overall, it was a good stay for the value.

Upon entering my room, I noticed it was located right under a light on my front door, attracting a lot of bugs. It seemed like the room had not been cleaned for a while, as bugs flew in as soon as I entered. Unfortunately, there was no Wi-Fi, so we had to switch rooms after unpacking everything, a mistake we should have caught earlier.

The hotel has a lot of potential but falls short in certain areas. The rooms are smoke-free and offer a fridge and microwave, but the lack of Wi-Fi caused an inconvenience that could have been avoided with better communication. The service was lacking in basic information and had an incident that could have been handled better. The location played a significant role in my choice, but safety concerns arose. However, its proximity to key Detroit highlights made it a convenient choice.

The hotel offered a fairly good deal considering the price paid for the rooms. The size was good, and the rooms were clean, equipped with a fridge. The service, while a bit surly at first, quickly fixed any issues at the registration office. The location was convenient, close to the People Mover and downtown Detroit, making it easy to get around town. The proximity to the Fox Theatre and Motor City Casino added to the appeal of the location. However, better upkeep and more information about the location would have been preferable. Dining options were limited to whole wheat bread rolls.
